Certification of Piping Engineering Skills
We believe that as the process contracting market re-expands that being able to demonstrate a given level of skill will be important to the individual piper as well as his/her prospective employer. This is shown by the rise from 264 certified pipers last year to 368 this year.
SPED has established 4 levels of skill. Two based on testing and two through work experience.
- Level I: Basic - Properly Trained
- Level II: Advanced - Organise Work
- Level III: Senior PPD - Independent Producer
- Level IV: Lead PPD - Manage, Assure Work Quality
The proven SPED testing scripts at Levels I & III can be offered to individuals and in-company groups. The test ensures that each designer has the knowledge required to layout piping efficiently at Level I or to connect to main plant items correctly at Level III.
Further details on SPED PPD Certification can be found on www.spedweb.com.
Certification testing is included at the end of on-line and face to face courses and the price is part of the course fee.
Certification can also be purchased standalone and the fee is £250 (member) or £375 (non-member), per person and held at a location of 20CC’s choice. A “crammer” course to help you be more aware of the type and level of questions is available, see Online Review in the SPED Courses pages of this site.
We list the engineers who gained certification on both the 20CC and SPED websites.
